Rehoming honey bees from a tree bee rescue.
Rehoming honey bees from a tree bee rescue.
Chessington Garden Centre has kindly provided space for a number of honey bee hives that are used to revive colonies and rehome honey bees, as well as providing a location for learning and education.
The support of Chessington Garden Centre has been fundamental in the rescue and rehoming programme of wild honey bees.
In return, Tree Bee Rescue is able to offer captivating beekeeping events, fostering environmental awareness regarding the natural habitats of honey bees.

The first live colony was successfully installed in 2023. the honeybees came from a local rescue and a large tree truck was successfully relocated at the garden centre.
The team at Chessington Garden Centre have been incredibly supportive, providing wonderful facilities for the bees, and really embracing the whole Tree Bee Rescue ethos. The installation of the new hives has been an absolute joy.
There is so much that can be learned by putting on specialist beekeeping PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and observing the interior of a colony close up. And the hives at Chessington Garden Centre provide such a great learning environment for adults and children.
Visit The BeesWe have a number of hives at Chessington Garden Centre. Some are for educational purposes and on view to the public, whilst others are supporting the regrowth phase of the colony in preparation for rehoming after a rescue.
Bees are located at the front of the car park at the garden centre, with regrowth hives located elsewhere on site for conservation and rehoming.
We run a number of workshops at the garden centre. Contact us for upcoming dates.
Chessington Garden Centre have been a joy to work with and their support is invaluable. Here is what they have to say:
Our staff recently had an enjoyable experience donning beekeeping protective gear and observing the bees up close in their hives. They also gained insights into the honey production process and beekeeping practices.
Some text in here from someone about either TBR at the garden centre, you saying how great it is to be at the garden centre, or we put a more general testimonial about TBR.
